Watch that first step...

Holy smokes the past two weeks have been rough.  Roughly twelve months ago, we decided that we would hit the road approximately January 29th, 2012.  Oh, that's cute...well it's nice to have goals, isn't it?

The hardest step is that very first one, just before lift-off.  We have double and triple-checked all of our checklists.  We've visited accountants, finished up paperwork, and tried to tackle as many of our ambitious "projects" as possible.  When we finally realized that we had been stalling for 13 days, we decided enough was enough.  We pulled all of the irons out of the fire, stuffed everything that mattered inside of the Border Runner, and finally stepped foot onto the pavement.  Suddenly the little details that were holding us back, are now just faint footnotes in our grand scheme...

Will our haste to leave come back to haunt us?  Most likely.  Do we care?  Not yet.

We could have easily spent the next month (or twelve) making sure that every last detail was addressed.  We could have quadruple-checked our lists, dotted every "T" and crossed every "I" (that's a correct saying, trust me).  Every once in a while, you have to throw caution to the wind and just figure it out as you go.

So empty your bladders and fill up your gas tanks, the road ahead is long and bumpy...
