First Taste of the Mainland

We arrived in Mazatlan early the next morning and spent about half a day exploring the city before heading south to San Blas, Nayarit.  It was nice to finally make it to mainland Mexico and see the transition from desert to lush green coastline.

San Blas was one of Brenton's favorite places from when he and his sister backpacked Mexico in 2004 and he really wanted to bring me there to share in some of his nostalgia.

Heading to the Mainland

Maybe it'll be my job (Shannon) to bring the audience up to speed when we've had a lack of blog writing.  It's been a while so I'll have to thumb through some pictures and journal entries to remember it all.

Fellow travelers mentioned that when you're on a trip like this, time really slows down.  Sure, I thought, I can see that.  You're moving at a slower pace, not paying attention to that almighty clock that everyone is chasing.  Well, I had no idea just how much time would slow down.

Mexico Campsites

Rooftop camping on top of a hostel
We have published a Google map showing all of our campsites to date.  We will try to keep it updated as we continue.  Please feel free to use the information, but don't forget to credit the source.  Many of these campsites can be found in the Traveler's Guide to Mexican Camping by Mike & Terri Church, which is a HIGHLY recommended resource that you should buy if you are planning a similar trip.

Keep in mind that we are traveling in a small SUV with good ground clearance and 4x4 and we don't require electrical or sewage hookups.  Your rig may not be able to access or fit in some of these locations so we have tried to make notes in that regard.
